Senior R&D Engineer (Mechanical), Takoma Park, MD:

Job Duties:

  • Lead new product R&D processes/services and improve the existing products
  • Translate user needs into engineering requirements & specifications, develop test plans/protocols for design verification/validation
  • Design 3D CAD models of mechanical parts using SolidWorks/Creo
  • Produce detailed drafting of products & assembly drawings following Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME standard
  • Construct prototypes, perform mechanical/environmental simulation testing with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Conduct experiments to test prototypes, iterate designs and optimize performances;
  • Provide process/equipment engineering support, resolve technical issues to manufacturing partners/vendors for design transfer
  • Develop & support GMP compliant manufacturing facilities, generate documentation/SOPs and perform risk analysis based on ISO quality system requirements/standards
  • Develop tools in MATLAB for data analyses

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2-year research/product development experience in medical device industry
  • Experience must include medical device mechanical/opto-mechanical components & systems design and prototyping with 3D printing & machining
  • Strong robotic/electromechanically control system design skills
  • Familiar with Quality Management System/regulatory standards/Design Control/Risk Management/Manufacturing Process/GD&T per ASME standard
  • Excellent computer programming and data analysis skills in MATLAB
  • High proficiency in 3D Modeling (Solidworks/Creo) & FEA and CFD tools (ANSYS/ABAQUS).
